macOS PPTP Setup Instructions

Setting up PPTP on macOS 10.5+

  1. Click on System Preferences in the apple menu.
  2. Click on the Network icon.
  3. If the lock icon looks 'locked', click on it and type in your Administrator Name and password.
  4. Click on the + (plus) button at the bottom of the list panel to add a new service (Located just above the Lock). A small sub-window will open.
  5. Select VPN in the Interface drop down menu.
  6. Select PPTP in the VPN type drop down menu.
  7. Enter a 'Service Name' and click Create. The small window will close.
  8. Click the 'Configuration' drop down menu and select 'Add Configuration'. A small window will open.
  9. Type in a name for the connection in the Name: field, and Click Create. The small window will close.
  10. The installation process will then ask you for your connection information, type in the following:
    • Server Address: (Find the Server Addresses on our Network Details page)
    • Account Name: (Your VPN Username. Note that you can view your VPN username and password in the VPN Login Details section of the member's area. Your VPN login credentials are different from your IronSocket website log-in credentials.)
  11. Click "Authentication Settings..."
  12. On the Password field, enter your VPN password and click OK.
  13. Check "Show VPN status in menu bar"
  14. Click "Advanced...". A large options window will open.
  15. Check the "Send all traffic over VPN connection" box.
  16. Click OK. The large options window will close.
  17. Click Apply and then Connect.
  18. When the Internet Connect window opens, Type your VPN password in the Password field and click OK.
  19. When connected you will see "Status: Connected to XXX"
