IP Authorization Instructions

We provide multiple ways to update your IP address and grant you access to our proxy network. To start, navigate to the IP Authorization page for the subscription you wish to modify.

  1. Log in to the member's area using your email address and password
  2. Click the IP Authorization link on the sidebar
  3. Users with multiple subscriptions will be asked to select which account to modify
  4. Click one of the buttons below to proceed with the option that suits you best
Option 1: Update to Current IP Address - This is the most common option used by users who have a dynamic IP address that doesn't change very often. When the IP address does change, this step must be repeated.
  1. Determine the authorization slot you wish modify. Select Overwrite with Current IP from the drop-down menu to update the slot with your current IP. If Overwrite with Current IP is grayed out, it means that IP is already authorized.
  2. Click Yes to confirm the new settings.
Option 2: Use a Dynamic DNS (DDNS) Hostname - This is the best option for users who don't want the hassle of updating their IP address in our system. It requires you to setup an account with a Dynamic DNS (DDNS) provider. There are free DDNS solutions so this can be done with no extra cost.
If you are interested in this option and do not already have a DDNS Hostname, click here for detailed setup instructions.

  1. Click Edit Slot. If you have multiple authorization slots, please click the corresponding Edit Slot button.
  2. You may enter a description of the DDNS Hostname (e.g. Home or Work) if you wish. Under Type, verify that Hostname is selected, and proceed to enter your DDNS Hostname.
  3. Click Save to confirm the new settings.
Option 3: Manually Edit an IP Address - This option is for users who want to authorize a specific IP address.
  1. Click Edit Slot. If you have multiple authorization slots, please click the corresponding Edit Slot button.
  2. You may enter a description of the IP address (e.g. Home or Work) if you wish. Under Type, verify that IP Address is selected, and proceed to enter your IP address.
  3. Click Save to confirm the new settings.

Why do I need to authorize my IP to use IronSocket services?

Your public IP address, the one provided by your Internet Service Provider, is the information we use for identification purposes. When you authorize an IP on your account, we then take that IP and allow it access on our firewall. This way only our customer's authorized IPs get white-listed and are allowed access to our proxy services. Unauthorized IPs are blocked.

Note that you only need to authorize your IP if you are using DNS Proxy, HTTP or SOCKS5 Proxy services. If you are only using our VPN service, you do not have to authorize your IP address.
